| 90.5 head - semi hemi cut
Stock twin port head, bored for 90.5 or 92mm cylinders and has 54cc combustion chamber. Stainless steel valves, shimmed single heavy duty valve springs, chromoly spring retainers and clearanced, hardened valve colletts. They also feature a three angle valve job.
7.6:1 compression on a 0.060" deck height 1776cc engine. These work great with an Engle 110, improved carburation and 4 into 1 header. Because of the stock valve sizes, you can retain the heat exchangers too, with no loss of performance.
Price is per pair of heads.
Delivery time - usually 7 to 14 days
| Stainless steel 35.5mm inlet valve
Top quality replacement valve for 1600 twin port heads. Also fits some 1300 twin ports and the 1500 single ports. Suitable for use with today's unleaded fuels. Price is per valve
| Stainless steel exhaust valve (32mm)
High quality replacement valve for the stock 1600 twin port head and others as listed above. Suitable for use with unleaded fuel. Price is per valve.
| 044 Magnum Cylinder Heads - 90.5 or 92mm Brand new castings. Same cooling fin design as the stock VW head, so they're ideal for high mileage performance engines. Complete with 40 x 35.5mm stainless steel valves, dual springs, chromoly retainers. (No port work or valve job has been carried out to these heads). Price is per pair of heads | | | |
| 044 Magnum Cylinder Heads - 94mm As above (40 x 35.5mm) but bored for 94mm cylinders | | | |
| 044 Magnum Plus Heads - 90.5 or 92mm 42mm inlet and 37mm stainless steel exhaust valves, dual valve springs, hardened colletts and chromoly spring retainers. A great choice for high performance street engines where maximum cooling is paramount. These new castings allow generous port work to be carried out without having to resort to welding. They also feature a 12mm spark plug thread - resulting in more material between plug hole and seats. A great value head. | | | |
| 044 Magnum Plus Heads - 94mm As above but machined for 94mm cylinders | | | |
| CNC Ported 044 Ultra Magnum Plus - 94mm bore A convenient and economic way to equip your engine with a set of ported heads. 44mm x 37.5mm. The intake ports, exhaust ports and combustion chambers have been computer machined to provide a cost effective alternative to traditional hand ported heads. I've used these heads with good results but they need additional finish work to smooth out the machine marks in the ports and the combustion chambers require further reshaping to maximise flow potential. Although I don't regard these as an 'out of the box' solution, they represent excellent value for money and with some further work - as detailed above - can deliver serious horsepower. See Big Beef manifolds below. | | | |
| CB Big Beef Manifolds These manifolds feature plenty of extra material at the base, avoiding the need for welding, as is often required when attempting to match port conventional manifolds to large port heads. Designed to fit Weber IDF and Dellorto DRLA carbs. For Weber IDA, use Skat Trak tall manifolds, listed below. | | | |
| Cylinder head heat deflectors (pair) Often left out or missing. If these aren't in place, you'll overheat cylinders 2 and 4. They help the heated air down and away from the engine. | | | |
| HD bolt together rocker shafts
On any engine using higher rpm and/or more valve spring pressure than stock, replace the stock rockers with a set of these. These shafts feature bolt on ends. With stock rocker shafts, the clips will break, allowing the valve adjusting screw to wander off the edge of the valve, causing damage which can only be repaired by head removal.
| CB Performance 1.4:1 Ratio Rockers Super Heavy Duty orged rocker arms. The ideal combination when used with Engle's range of FK cams. These rockers give lift figures very close to the advertised ratio (unlike those from other manufacturers). | | | |
| Stainless steel clip on valve covers Feature a seal reatining lip that keeps the valve cover gasket in place and avoids leaks. Also have greater internal clearance than stock covers so are a good choice for use with aftermarket rocker ratios, valve adjusting screws etc | | | |
| 40mm stainless steel valve These high quality, low cost valves are supplied by Gene Berg. Price is for one (1) valve | | | |
| 35.5mm stainless steel valve As above but in 35.5mm | | | |
| Chromoly cut to length pushrods (thin wall)
Chromoly pushrods. They come with one end uninstalled so you can have them machined to the length required in order to achieve correct rocker arm geometry. 80,000psi tensile strength. This thin wall, lightweight version is suitable for most high performance engines. If you're building a very high rpm race engine (7000rpm plus), you may want to consider the thicker wall version listed below.
| Chromoly cut to length pushrods (thick wall) Only required for engines operating at very high rpm (eg 7000 rpm plus), where the lighter weight thin wall pushrods listed above will tend to flex and bend. Please call if you need any further advice on pushrod selection for your application. | | | |
| Pushrod tubes (stock VW)
Stock pushrod tubes offer the best leak free seal and they're cheap! For engines with lots of valve lift, see racing pushrods below. Price is for 1 tube.
| Racing pushrod tubes These are flared at the head end to give more room for the extra up and down motion of the pushrods fitted to engines with lots of valve lift. Same high quality as the stock pushrod tubes.
Price is per set of 8 tubes.
| Racing pushrod tube seals The large end of the racing push rod tube is 4mm bigger than stock and requires a bigger OD seal. This set contains 8 x high quality stock type seals and 8 x oversize silicone seals | | | |
| Rocker pedestal shims
Setting the rocker arm geometry generally involves having to shim the rocker shaft away from the head. These are made for the job. Each pack has a selection of different thickness shims to help you get the geometry spot on.
| Copper head gaskets 90.5mm x 1mm (0.040") Eliminate combustion leakage between the cylinders and head. New heads will never need resurfacing if you use a set of copper head gaskets. Definitely recommended for turbo engines or any engine seeing extreme combustion pressures. Can also be used to help dial in required deck height. Set of 4 | | | |
| Copper head gaskets 90.5mm x 1.5mm (0.060") As above but 1.5mm (0.060") thick. Set of 4 | | | |
| Copper head gaskets 94mm x 1mm (0.040") As above but for 94mm cylinders, 1mm (0.040") thick | | | |
| Copper head gaskets 94mm x 1.5mm (0.060") As above but 1.5mm (0.060") thick. Set of 4 | | | |
| Swivel feet valve adjusting screws
An absolute must when using stainless steel valves with stock style rocker arms. Also reccommended with stock type valves as they prevent 'mushrooming' of the valve stem tip.
Set of 8. | | | |
| Valve adjusting screw (stock) Stock replacement screw.
Price is per 1 | | | |
| Single HD valve springs
Any cam, other than stock, will require extra spring pressure. These uprated single springs work fine with Engle 100 and Engle 110 cams. For cams with more lift and duration, see dual springs below.
| Dual valve springs Engle 120 and up will need to use dual springs for optimum performance. These have stock outside diameter and are excellent quality but will need the valve guide boss machined for the inner spring. See the machine work department for details on this inexpensive modification. You'll also need a set of chromoly valve spring retainers to suit (listed below).
| | | |
| Chromoly valve spring retainers
These fit dual springs. I also use them on single HD valve springs because the stock retainers can fail due to the extra spring pressure and rpm capability of even a mildly tuned engine. Don't risk it!
Set of 8. | | | |
| Hardened valve collets
High strength replacement for stock valve colletts.
Set of 16. | | | |
| Valve spring shims (single)
Use these shims to set your valve spring installed heights. They also prevent high pressure valve springs from 'eating' into the aluminium spring seat area.
Set of 8. | | | |
| Valve spring shims (dual) As above but for the dual springs.
